Ahead of a May release, you can get a look at Disney’s next live action take on an animated classic: The Little Mermaid.
Disney has premiered the full trailer for the upcoming live action remake of The Little Mermaid. The film, which is set to release on 26th May, features Halle Bailey as Ariel, with quite the cast in place to support her. Javier Bardem, Melissa McCarthy and Jonah Hauer-King also co-star in the tale about the a beautiful and spirited young mermaid who longs to experience life beyond the ocean.
The release of The Little Mermaid marks Disney’s latest live action ‘reimagining’ of one of its animated classics. There’s been an uneven response to this continuing trend so far but a live action take of this tale feels like it should work, on paper at least. We’ll have to wait until May to find out, but you can catch the full trailer for the film below.
Also lending their talents to the project are ‘Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle, Art Malik as Sir Grimsby and Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina.’ Rob Marshall, helmer of Mary Poppins Returns directs and you can catch a glimpse below.
