If Tom Cruise can fit the film in, then there’s still a chance for an Edge Of Tomorrow follow-up.

2014’s Edge Of Tomorrow – or Live Die Repeat, to give it its preferred title – remains a really strong blockbuster movie, that’s continued to earn good word of mouth since it landed on disc and streaming services.

There was chatter too around the time of the movie’s release of a potential follow-up, with Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and director Doug Liman all keen to return for the new movie.

The problem has in large part been Cruise’s schedule. He’s currently at work on Top Gun: Maverick, before shooting Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 back to back. And those are likely to keep him busy for the next year or so at the very least.

Matthew Robinson has been hired by Warner Bros to do a fresh draft of the Edge Of Tomorrow 2 script – the working title of the film is Live Die Repeat Repeat – and Liman has admitted that the wait is on for Cruise. That once he’s done with his Mission: Impossible sequels, “that would be the time” to press ahead with the project.

The script is reportedly in place too, he confirms, and it’s just a case of wait and see. We’d still wager it’s 50/50 whether this one actually happens, but fingers crossed. Just don’t expect any news anytime soon.
