Ethan Hawke goes back behind the camera with Wildcat, and the cast for the new film has now been confirmed.
Ethan Hawke’s last directorial venture was 2018’s Blaze, which followed the life of musician Blaze Foley. And now he’s stepping back behind the camera for his latest project.
He’s going for a similarly autobiographical angle with Wildcat, which will follow author Flannery O’Connor and her attempts to publish her first novel, as she struggles with lupus and growing up in the American South. O’Connor is best known for her offbeat short stories, she sadly died at 39.
Hawke’s daughter Maya will take on the title role, alongside Laura Linney, Philip Ettinger, Rafael Casal, Steve Zahn, Cooper Hoffman, Willa Fitzgerald, Alessandro Nivola and Vincent D’Onofrio.
Hawke will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Shelby Gaines, with whom Hawke previously worked with on Blaze.
Wildcat is currently in production, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
