All the James Bond films go back on Prime Video to celebrate James Bond Day this weekend ā€“ but thereā€™s no sign of a new film announcement.

The official James Bond 007 website has been drawing attention to the fact that this Saturday, the 5th of October, is James Bond day. This has become a thing it seems over the last few years, and it marks the date of the world premiere for Dr No, the first official 007 movie.

Dr No was released in 1962, which coincidentally appears to be the last time we heard anything about where the James Bond saga is going next. Following Daniel Craig’s swansong in the tuxedo back in 2021’s No Time To Die, there’s been radio silence from Eon Productions over the whens, wheres and hows of the next James Bond movie.

To mark James Bond day, Amazon Prime has added all the 007 movies back to its service, so they’re available to stream to its members. All with extra ads too, should you be so inclined.

But attention inevitably turns to what next. Unlike, say, Star Wars Day on 4th May, James Bond day has hardly been awash with announcements in the past. 2024 had been expected to be the year when we found out who the new Bond will be – Aaron Taylor-Johnson remains the rumour – and when the next film will arrive. That may still be the case, but as of now, there’s nothing but rumours to report.

It’s now five years since No Time To Die was filming, though, and sooner or later, something has to give. But few are expecting for Eon to suddenly burst through with an announcement of the new James Bond this Saturday, although it’d be a terrific rug pull were it to do so.

Here’s a few words on where James Bond has found himself now.

As things stand, the latest announcement from the official James Bond website has nothing to do with a movie. Instead, it’s trying to sell you a James Bond advent calendar. Ho, ho, ho…
