The upcoming MCU release Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania heralds the launch of Marvel Studios’ fifth phase of films.

Marvel Studio’s Phase Four concluded with 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and was the subject of the type of sustained criticism that we haven’t really seen since Iron Man launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe all the way back in 2008. Sure, Marvel Studios has released a few duffers here and there over the years, but almost every film (not to mention some of the TV shows) that released throughout Phase Four found itself facing some kind of negativity.

One of the major criticisms has been the overall lack of direction in the seven film arc, and that at least looks set to change with the arrival of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania heralding the beginning of Phase Five and setting into motion the MCU’s next major meta-plot.

The film will introduce Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, the next major antagonist in the MCU, and fans of the comic books will be pleased to see that the talented folk at Marvel Studios have found a way to make the character’s rather goofy comic book costume look impressive whilst retaining its core look. The casting of Majors (who will also appear as another fearsome antagonist in the upcoming Creed III) looks to be a real coup whilst the returning Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily in the title roles are always a good bet.

Peyton Reed returns once more to direct whilst Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, David Dastmalchian, William Jackson Harper, Katy O’Brian and Bill Murray also feature. The film releases on February 17th here in the UK and we imagine it will be quite popular, this one. You can catch the final trailer for the film below.
