A sequel to record breaking animation The Sea Beast is in the works at Netflix, and here are the first details.
It may come as a surprise, but The Sea Beast, which landed on Netflix in July last year, is the most seen animated film on the streaming service, with over 165 million hours watched to date.
The film followed monster hunter Jacob Holland and Maisie, an orphan girl who gets tangled up in the quest to find the legendary Red Bluster.
Unsurprisingly, Netflix is keen to move ahead with a sequel. Chris Williams, who directed and co-wrote the original, signed an overall deal with Netflix, which allows him to make not only a sequel, but also an original film which is described as being “in the tradition of The Lord of the Rings but with the attitude of The Princess Bride”. Sounds like that’s what he’s going to be doing, too.
We’ll keep you updated as we hear more…
