Video game Five Night’s At Freddy’s is becoming a film (after a long period of gestation), and the first cast members have now been confirmed.
Given the game’s premise, it is surprising that is has taken this long for this particular project to get off the ground. We’re talking about the long-mooted movie of Five Night’s At Freddy’s, that at one stage looked like it was going to be directed by Chris Columbus. He’s no longer involved in the movie though – but it’s finally pressing forward.
If you’ve not had the pleasure of the game, Five Night’s At Freddy’s follows a security guard as he attempts to make it through his first shift at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza after the restaurant’s animatronic characters come to life and become homicidal.
Leading the cast are Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson, their roles are as yet undisclosed.
Emma Tammi is directing from a screenplay she co-wrote with Seth Cuddeback and creator of the franchise Scott Cawthon. Prolific horror studio Blumhouse is now behind the film.
Five Night’s At Freddy’s will begin production in February, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
