Yorgos Lanthimos is back with his next feature, Poor Things, and the full trailer for it has arrived.

Yorgos Lanthimos is unquestionably one of the most original auteurs currently working. Director of brilliantly original stories, from the supremely unsettling Dogtooth to The Lobster, The Killing Of A Sacred Deer and The Favourite, Lanthimos is now back with Poor Things.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberatio.

Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, and Christopher Abbott complete the ensemble. Lanthimos reunites with The Favourite co-writer Tony McNamara, who penned the screenplay based on the novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray. Stone also co-produced the film.

Lanthimos and Stone also have another project in the pipeline, anthology film And And And, whose cast includes Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie and Margaret Qualley. The film is currently in post production with no release date.

Poor Things will be released on 8th September.
