Kenan and Kel have reunited to reprise their roles for Good Burger 2, and the first details of the new movie are here.

Aw, here goes! Nickelodeon icons Kenan and Kel are reuniting for a sequel to their 1997 film Good Burger. Spun off from the sketch in Nickelodeon series All That, the film saw Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell play new employee Dexter and dim witted cashier Ed. Forming an uneasy bond, they must fight to save their restaurant when a conglomerate burger chain moves in across the road.

News of a sequel was discussed last year, now it has officially been greenlit. It is the latest in a series of Nickelodeon properties to be revived for Paramount+, including iCarly, Zoey 101 and The Thundermans.

Disgraced producer Dan Schnieder – who co-wrote the script for the original – is not involved. Instead, Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, who co-wrote the original film and worked on All That will write the screenplay with James III. Phil Traill will direct.

The synopsis reads as follows:

Dexter Reed (Thompson) is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed (Mitchell) welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.

Thompson said that “Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”

Good Burger 2 will begin production in May and will be released on Paramount+ in the latter half of 2023.
