Midnight Mass star Hamish Linklater will join The Boys spin-off Gen V for its second season. More on the show below.
With The Boys season 4 premiering next week, Prime Video is gearing up to begin work on season 2 of Gen V, its The Boys adjacent spin-off.
Midnight Mass actor Hamish Linklater is joining the cast as Cipher, the new Dean of Godolkin University. Variety described Cipher as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”
The series follows young superheroes as they study and train at Godolkin University; they then have the opportunity to join The Seven if they rank highly enough.

Linklater is joining a large ensemble cast which also includes Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann. No release date for Gen V season 2 has been given yet, but production on the new series was set to begin in May.
The production was delayed by the tragic death of Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson in the first season. The actor died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024 and Prime Video released a statement saying his role won’t be recast and that the new season would “will honour Chance and his legacy”.
Linklater is best known for playing the charismatic Father Paul Hill in Mike Flanagan’s Midnight Mass, but the actor recently also starred in AppleTV+’s Manhunt.
