After making Drop and quitting Scream 7, director Christopher Landon is to make Final Boarding – a new supernatural horror.
As both a writer and director, Christopher Landon has made some rather corking genre films over the past 25 years or so. Most recently, he brought us the low-budget thriller Drop, which he made in the wake of his abrupt departure from the production of Scream 7 last year.
Landon now has another project lined up, it’s been announced: he’s to direct Final Boarding, which Deadline tells us is a supernatural horror of some sort. It’ll be made for Sony’s indie arm, Screen Gems, and is said to be based on a short story by Clarence Hammond.
The screenplay itself will be written by Javier Gullon, who’s perhaps best known for writing Enemy, a nightmarish psychological drama directed by Denis Villeneuve, and Aftermath, a rare dramatic vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Unfortunately, we can’t find much information about Clarence Hammond, or clues as to where his Final Boarding story might have been published. If anyone out there has some info, do get in touch.
As well as Drop, Christopher Landon has directed the frothily entertaining comedy slashers Happy Death Day and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U, and the even funnier Freaky (featuring a standout performance from Vince Vaughn). He wrote the scripts for such nail-biters as Disturbia (2007), no fewer than four Paranormal Activity sequels, and the novel slasher romance, Heart Eyes. He also has Happy Death Day 3 on the way.
In other words, Christopher Landon knows a thing or two about comedy, horror and suspense, so we await to see what attracted him to Final Boarding. For now, we can only guess what it’s about from the title; it hints at a horror set on a plane or perhaps a boat.
At a push, we’d guess it’s about someone putting down some boards in their loft space to create more storage. But what are they storing, eh? Something horrific, we’ll be bound.
