Kevin Costner’s second Horizon movie remains in limbo, as a new report suggests it’s going to stay on the shelf for some time to come.

It sounds as though Kevin Costner’s back remains up against the wall a little when it comes to his Horizon: An American Saga movie series.

The story to date: two films have been shot, along with around ten minutes of footage from a third. The plan is for four films in all, with basically two of them yet to be shot.

In terms of release, it was back in 2024 that Horizon: An American Saga debuted, Chapter 1 arrived in cinemas, with Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 due six weeks later.

But after the box office disappointment of the first movie, Warner Bros – which inked a distribution deal with Kevin Costner for the opening two films – yanked the second. It’s remained unreleased ever since, in spite of being finished and in spite of being shown at festivals.

Since then, Kevin Costner – who has co-written, directed and starred in the films – has found his films on the receiving end of thus-far ongoing lawsuits, while also short of cash to shoot the next two movies.

He’s tried, thus far without success, to attract investors, and he’s been in Australia shooting Honeymoon With Harry, a new comedy alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

Meanwhile, the question remains: when will the completed, sitting in limbo Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 actually get a release?

The answer? Well, it’s in the headline, as our attempt to push back against clickbait savagely backfires: not this year.

As per World Of Reel, a Warner Bros representative has confirmed to the outlet that there are zero plans to release the film in 2026. Until legalities are resolved, it looks as if there’s no path at all to get the second film out, and that can’t be helping either in terms of raising funds for the third.

Costner hasn’t apparently given up on his dream project yet, but with each passing year it does look to be getting more difficult. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more, but, bluntly, don’t expect to hear more anytime soon…
