Michael B Jordan is set to take the lead in a follow-up to I Am Legend, that’s now pressing ahead at Warner Bros.
Writer and producer Akiva Goldsman has been chatting to the Hollywood trade press about a new deal between his production company – Weed Road – and Warner Bros. It’s a deal that means the previously-mooted Constantine 2 is moving ahead. But also it’s given fresh impetus to I Am Legend 2 as well.
Goldsman has now told Deadline that the plan with the new film – and it’s one that people have been trying to crack for years – will head back to the Richard Matheson source novel for its inspiration. He confirmed that the 2007 movie’s alternate, darker ending will be the one that’s adopted for the purposes of the sequel.
The new film will be set a few decades after the first film, with Michael B Jordan set to star. It’s unclear whether Francis Lawrence will be directing, given that he’s got the aforementioned Constantine follow-up on his docket too. But we’ll keep you posted as we hear more…
