The star and director of Greenland and Angel Has Fallen are reuniting for race against time action flick Kandahar.

Following hot on the heels of the supremely satisfying Plane, Gerard Butler’s next action flick, Kandahar has been set for a May release date (in the US at least). Plane performed solidly at the box-office, beating original box office projections and was well received by audiences. (It’s getting an imaginatively-titled sequel too.)

Kandahar is helmed by Ric Roman Waugh and has been written by Mitchell LaFortune and Waugh, and ‘follows Tom Harris (Butler) who is an undercover CIA operative stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. After his mission is exposed, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding elite enemy forces and foreign spies tasked with hunting them down.’

The film is set to reunite Butler with Ric Roman Waugh, the director with whom he has previously collaborated with on Angel Has Fallen and the excellent Greenland (which is also getting a sequel).

Now, we’ve got ourselves a teaser trailer to check out too and it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect. We’re on board for this so, check it out and enjoy your first look below, ahead of the film’s release in late May.
