Science fiction drama Invasion has been renewed for a third season at Apple TV+, it’s been confirmed: more here.
Writer Simon Kinberg is best known for his contributions to the X Men franchise, scripting The Last Stand, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, which was also his directorial debut. His other credits include Mr and Mrs Smith, the 2015 version of Fantastic Four and the rebooted version of The Twilight Zone.
In 2021, Kinberg and David Weil created science fiction drama Invasion for Apple TV+, which follows an alien invasion through the perspectives of a variety of characters around the world.
The cast includes Golshifteh Farahani as Aneesha, Shioli Kutsuna as Mitsuki, Shamier Anderson as Trevante, India Brown as Jamila Huston, Billy Barratt as Caspar, Azhy Robertson as Luke, Paddy Holland as Monty and Tara Moayedi as Sarah, Enver Gjokaj as Clark, Nedra Marie Taylor as Rose and Naian González Norvind as Maya, who were added as series regulars in Season 2.
Season one premiered in October of 2021 and ran until December. Season two ran from August until October of last year.
Speaking about the news, Kinberg said “I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to do with our first two seasons of the show with our partners at Apple TV+ and our cast and crew. This new season will continue to build on the scale, stakes and propulsion of the ‘Invasion,’ while keeping our characters front and center, bringing them together in ways that will hopefully surprise and most importantly move our audience, who have been so incredibly supportive and inspiring since day one.”
Kinberg’s next project is handing the rewrite of action thriller The Killer’s Game, which will be directed by fight choreographer J.J Perry and star Ben Kingsley, Scott Adkins, Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff.
Season three of Invasion is set to begin production later this month.
