The Oscar-nominated Jacob Elordi has had meetings with Amazon MGM about playing James Bond according to one report.

Jacob Elordi has just received an Oscar nomination for his performance in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. If the latest rumour is true – and this is a big if – then he could soon take on a more glamorous role.

The entertainment site Showbiz 411 has run a story that Elordi has “had meetings with the producers and director Denis Villeneuve.”

Deadline reporter Justin Kroll has suggested that a casting announcement could be made towards the middle of 2026, with shooting on the film itself scheduled to begin in late 2026 or early 2027. Villeneuve’s currently working on Dune Part Three, out this December, so he’ll be giving that sci-fi sequel his full attention this year in any case.

Then again, so was George Lazenby – and Elordi proved in Saltburn that he could play an aloof, upper-class Englishman.

Whether it’ll be Elordi, Turner, or someone else entirely (Aaron Taylor-Johnson has also been rumoured in the past), the speculation is likely to consider for a while yet.

Daniel Craig’s casting as Bond – which caused much consternation at the time – was announced in October 2025 – just over a year before the release of his debut, Casino Royale. If James Bond isn’t due for release in 2028, as previously reported elsewhere, then an official announcement could be months away…
