Wednesday star Jenna Ortega looks set to reunited with Tim Burton for the long-awaited Beetlejuice 2.

It’s been a long time coming but it looks like Beetlejuice 2 might actually be heading to our screens.

The long-gestating sequel is set to reunite Micheal Keaton and Winona Ryder in a follow up to Tim Burton’s goofy 1988 supernatural comedy which boasts legions of fans, to this very day. There’s been several attempts to get Beetlejuice 2 off the ground (which you can read about here) but the latest venture really kicked into gear a year ago when Plan B Entertainment became involved.

Then, in late 2022 it was reported that Catherine O’Hara has signed up to reprise her role as Delia Deetz with Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton already on board.

Tim Burton looks set to lead the project and if reports are accurate, will be looking to his recent small screen success to find the film’s lead. Deadline is reporting that Jenna Ortega is in line to reunite with Burton following the pair’s collaboration on the popular Netflix show, Wednesday. As you might imagine from a Beetlejuice sequel set a quarter of a century after the original, Ortega is set to play the daughter of Lydia, Ryder’s teenage character from the original 1988 film.

Ortega is certainly a bona fide Scream Queen these days, being the face of the Scream franchise as well as inhabiting the role of Wednesday Addams for Netflix. This does seem like perfect casting and we’re hoping this news means that the film finally will make it into production this year. A summer shoot date in London is said to be in the works so hopefully, we’ll be able to bring you more news in due course.
