Comedian Jimmy Carr has penned his first screenplay, Fackham Hall, which will begin shooting next year. More details here.

Jimmy Carr is a regular on our television screens and a prolific stand up comic, performing hundreds of shows every year (pictured here hosting 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown). Now, he is making his first foray into filmmaking with Fackham Hall, a Downton Abbey spoof Carr penned with his younger brother Patrick and comedy writing duo The Dawson Brothers.

The cast includes Hero Feinnes Tiffin, Thomasin McKenzie, Emma Laird and Katherine Waterston.

Described as being “in the spirit of joke-a- minute comedies like Airplane and The Naked Gun”, the plot follows “a new porter (Tiffin) who embarks on an unlikely relationship with the youngest daughter (McKenzie) of a prominent UK family. At the same time, rivalries are spilling over in the Davenport family, led by Lord and Lady Davenport (Waterston) as they also weather the epic failure of the wedding of their eldest daughter (Laird) to her caddish cousin”.
