Kenneth Branagh’s spooky third Poirot movie, A Haunting In Venice, is confirmed for UK DVD and Blu-ray release.

Those who took the opportunity to catch Kenneth Branagh’s third big screen Hercule Poirot adventure, and who weren’t aware of the Agatha Christie source text that inspired it, may have got something of a shock last September. For A Haunting In Venice proved to be a tonal shift for the Poirot movies, Branagh instead delivering a really rather effective and chilling sort-of-horror movie.

Branagh reprised the lead role as well as directing the film, and it’s arguably the best of the trilogy, too, following Murder On The Orient Express and Death On The Nile.

Now, it’s been confirmed that A Haunting In Venice is also getting a physical media release just in time for Christmas.

The movie is set to arrive on both DVD and Blu-ray, with no 4K option this time, on December 4th 2023. You can find the listing for it here, with some more information.

In terms of additional features, there’s not much to get excited about. The theatrical trailer is included as part of the package, and a feature entitled ‘murder, death and haunting’. Which may be a brief featurette, may be something longer – at the moment, nobody’s telling.

Adorned with a 12 certificate – I showed it to a 12 year-old, and might rethink the idea of showing it them again! – the film is available to order on disc now.

Here’s the synopsis, if you need or want a quick refresher…

In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a seance. But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to once again to uncover the killer.

And you can order a copy of the film right here.
