For the first time ever, 1985’s The Care Bears Movie is getting a UK Blu-ray release: more here…
Say what you like about physical media, but it keeps delivering the films from the past that otherwise may struggle to get the care and attention they deserve. Case in point: The Care Bears Movie, which has become a surprise addition to the DVD and Blu-ray release list this side of Christmas.
The 1985 film – and those who’ve seen it will very much remember it – has something of a spooky edge to it. Arna Selznick directed the film, which did well enough to warrant a sequel. But it’s the original that’s getting a really rather posh-looking DVD and Blu-ray ‘mediabook’.
As such, as well as the film coming on both formats in the same packaging, there’s a 24-page booklet that’s being thrown in for good measure. You also get the theatrical trailer in terms of extra features. It’s not much, but it’s something. And the whole thing is a limited edition as well.
It’s the first time The Care Bears Movie has made it to Blu-ray in the UK, and the date to earmark in your diaries – you’ll need to clear an evening for it – is December 11th 2023.
