Christmas comedy Family Switch heads to Netflix later this month, the latest film from McG: trailer here.

There’s no shortage of festive films heading to streaming services this year, from Prime Video’s Eddie Murphy comedy Candy Cane Lane to Disney+ family comedy Dashing Through The Snow.

We can now add Family Switch to that list. At first, we assumed it was a sequel to a bunch of Nintendo-themed comedies we’d somehow overlooked – previous films would have included Family Wii U, Family Wii, Family GameCube, Family N64… you probably get the gag by now.

Anyway, it turns out that Family Switch has nothing to do with Nintendo at all, and is in fact another one of those body-swap comedies that happen every so often. For what it’s worth, Freaky is our favourite of the recent ones.

Nintendo Switch will land on Netflix later this month, and the synopsis reads as follows:

Jess and Bill Walker are doing their best to keep their family connected as their children grow older, more independent, and more distant. When a chance encounter with an astrological reader causes the family to wake up to a full body switch – on the morning of the most important day of each of their lives – can the Walkers unite to land a promotion, college interview, a record deal, and soccer tryout?

Ed Helms, Jennifer Garner, Emma Myers, Brady Noon and Rita Moreno star in the film.

McG – remember McG? – directs from a screenplay by Victoria Strouse and Adam Sztykiel, from a story by Strouse.

Family Switch will stream on Netflix from the 30th November.
