A reboot of the long running Leprechaun franchise is on the way, it’s been revealed: a few more details here.
The Leprechaun series, which saw Warwick Davis star as the titular character, began in 1993. Several sequels have of course followed, and the original is perhaps now best remembered as the film debut of Jennifer Aniston. Seven follow-ups followed, with Davis reprising his role in the first five. The last film was 2018’s Leprechaun Returns.
Now, a reboot is in development at Lionsgate. That’ll make it to film number nine in the boxset.
Felipe Vargas, who directed award-wining short film Milk Teeth, will helm the film from a screenplay by Mike Van Was. Davis is not expected to return for the new film. of which few further details are thus far known.
