Skibidi Toilet | Reports of Michael Bay’s crapper adaptation float back up again
Michael Bay previously denied reports that he was making a film based on the viral YouTube clips, Skibidi Toilet. But still the stories persist…
In 2024, word began to circulate that a film was about to be made on a series of viral YouTube clips called Skibidi Toilet. The more eye-catching part of the affair was that Michael Bay was going to be somehow involved.
The following May, Bay took to Instagram to record a video, firmly denying reports that he was set to direct a movie about a leering head emerging from a lavatory.
“I know what I’m directing, but it’s not the thing they keep talking about,” Bay intoned from beneath his baseball cap.
Despite this, the stories still persist. According to Puck (via Dark Horizons), Bay is “definitely developing” a Skibidi Toilet movie.
It’s all rather strange, because those 2024 reports weren’t some idle rumour dredged up from Reddit. Rather, they came from Adam Goodman, the former president of Paramount Pictures, who said that his then-new media company Invisible Narratives, had been working ‘closely’ with Bay and YouTuber Alexey Gerasimov on the project.

As Goodman said on a Variety podcast at the time:
“I will say that Michael and Jeffrey Beecroft, who’s his longtime production designer and a colleague of his that’s worked with him on all of his movies, have been working very closely with Alexey to really professionalise the kind of back engine of this, to make sure, if we ever decide to go film or television, that this is kind of lifted beyond just the resources that creators have on the internet.”
It’s an odd thing for someone with Goodman’s reputation to get wrong or exaggerate, but then it’s also odd that Bay would deny his involvement if these conversations have taken place.
“These are a whole bunch of movies right now,” Bay said in his Insta video, pointing at a table of unidentifiable scripts. “One is in serious prep, one is in soft prep, one I’m writing, one getting ready to produce… but there’s not one in that little pile that says ‘Skibidi,’ so let’s just stop the lore right now.”
Which is exactly what a person planning on making a Skibidi Toilet film probably would say.
We get that Bay might be a bit embarrassed to admit that he’s directing or producing a film about a singing khazi, but given the way things are going in the wider world, a Skibidi Toilet adaptation could really capture the zeitgeist. Also, consider the potential branding opportunities for companies like Royal Doulton, Armitage Shanks or Rak Ceramics.
If the stories are indeed true, it could be the first flush of a major new franchise.
More as we get it.
