Bryce Dallas Howard’s writer goes on an adventure of a lifetime in the first full Argylle trailer. Matthew Vaughn’s film will hit cinemas next February.

After a brief teaser trailer earlier this week, Apple and Universal Pictures have released a full trailer for their upcoming spy film Argylle

Directed by Matthew Vaugh, the new trailer features Bryce Dallas Howard’s Elly, a writer, who gets involved with real-life spy business by accident after she learns she is being targeted by skilled, professional killers, thanks to her books. Chaos ensues, as it so often does in these types of films.

Take a look at the Argylle trailer below.

Vaughn is clearly in his element here. The trailer showcases all of Vaughn’s best attributes; his sense of humour and a keen eye for action sequences as well as a great cast.

Howard leads an impressive cast that includes (but is not limited to) Henry Cavill as both the fictional and the real-life Argylle, subject of Elly’s books, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena and Dua Lipa.

Elly’s cat, first glimpsed in the teaser, is also very present in the action. The poor kitty is seen thrown from a building and parachuting from a train in its little carrier bag.

Here’s the full, official synopsis: “The greater the spy, the bigger the lie.” Bryce Dallas Howard is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. When the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.”

Jason Fuchs is in charge of the script. Argylle is scheduled to hit cinemas 2 February, 2024 before streaming on AppleTV+ at a later date.
