Katy O’Brian, who’s picking up acclaim for her role in Love Lies Bleeding, will line up alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 8, currently in production.

Katy O’Brian has joined the ranks of Paramount and Skydance’s upcoming Mission: Impossible 8 film according to Deadline. The project, which is currently untitled after shedding its previous moniker of Dead Reckoning Part Two, is currently deep in production and is due to release in May, 2025.

O’Brian has been picking up strong reviews for her role in Rose Glass’ soon to release neo-Western Love Lies Bleeding, in which she stars opposite Kristen Stewart. The actor has previously appeared in The Mandalorian, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and will soon be seen in one of this summer’s blockbuster releases, Twisters.

With her spot in the next Mission: Impossible now confirmed, O’Brian has a role in what is sure to be one of 2025’s biggest movies too. Of course, the Mission: Impossible films always have pretty stacked casts, so there’s no guarantee that O’Brian will get loads to do as she joins other franchise newcomers such as Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, Janet McTeer and Hannah Waddingham. That’s on top of the existing cast for the film, which comprises Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff.

No matter how much screen time O’Brian gets, simply getting to work on a Mission film is a clear sign that major players in Hollywood are picking up on the potential she possesses. As it stands, the actor has no other projects beyond Mission: Impossible and Twisters that are publicly known, but we’re betting that looming appearances in two major blockbusters means that there’ll be plenty of offers coming in behind the scenes.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though. What we really want to see next is O’Brian’s acclaimed turn in Love Lies Bleeding and we’ll be able to do that when the film finally releases in cinemas on April 19th.
