A few familiar faces have been confirmed for Beetlejuice 2, along with the announcement that Monica Bellucci will be joining the project.

Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2 is set to begin shooting in the UK in pretty short order ahead of an Autumn 2024 release date. We already knew that the supernatural comedy sequel would see the return of Michael Keaton alongside newcomers Justin Theroux and Wednesday's Jenna Ortega. Ortega is set to play the daughter of Lydia Deetz, the character played by Winona Ryder in the first film.

Until now, it wasn’t confirmed whether Ryder would return but that is now said to be a definite. Also rumoured to return from the first film’s cast was Catherine O’Hara and according to The Hollywood Reporter, that is now confirmed too.

Along with the returning faces, it has been revealed that Monica Bellucci will also be featuring in the film playing none other than Beetlejuice’s wife. Bellucci is a major international film star but has also appeared in some huge Hollywood hits such as The Matrix films, The Passion Of The Christ and Spectre. Could the nugget of news that Bellucci will be playing Beetlejuice’s wife means the sequel might be planning to spend a little more time with its title character this time around?

Who knows, but one thing we do know is that Beetlejuice 2 has snagged the release slot of September 6th 2024 that has been recently vacated by Marvel Studios’ Blade, an early casualty of the ongoing WGA strike. We’ll bring you more details on Beetlejuice 2 as we hear it.
