Leslye Headland, showrunner of the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte, will direct The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo.
Leslye Headland has landed one of the most coveted gigs in Hollywood, having been selected by Netflix to helm the film adaptation of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
The film adaptation of the acclaimed novel (which has sat on the New York Times bestseller list for a whopping 120 weeks) could be something special: the story is staged ‘during a long awaited interview with a young journalist, where Evelyn Hugo, an aging Hollywood starlet, pulls back the curtain on her seven marriages, and as she tells tales of Hollywood scandals, betrayals, and woe, she unveils shocking truths about her own life and the lives of everyone around her.’
According to Deadline, it’s a film that lots of directors were chasing but Netflix has plumped for Headland, who recently wrapped up work on The Acolyte, one of Disney’s upcoming Star Wars shows. Headland reportedly has a multi-year deal with the Disney-owned Lucasfilm, but also has a strong history with Netflix. She was the showrunner for Russian Doll, one of the platform’s bigger successes from the past few years and with all of that experience behind her, Netflix have picked her for what seems to be a highly-coveted role.
There’s currently no other information available on The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. When we do hear anything further, including a shoot date or casting, we’ll let you know.
