Miles Joris-Peyrafitte will direct, Margot Robbie will star in the Tank Girl movie reboot.
Following up on the story we ran yesterday about the planned Tank Girl movie reboot, more details are filtering through.
We’d already reported that Margot Robbie’s production company had apparently optioned Tank Girl for a new movie, and had been in development on the project for several months. That news came via one of the creators of the comic book, Alan Martin.
Martin also revealed that the original creatives hadn’t been contacted, and it sounds as though he found out about the news indirectly himself.
Now a report has landed that suggests Miles Joris-Peyrafitte is to direct the film. He’s worked with Margot Robbie on Dreamland before. Furthermore, Robbie is set to take the title role in the movie.
Quite how Rachel Talalay and Lori Petty – the director and star of the 1995 movie – feel about this is anyone’s guess. They were key to getting the last movie going at a point where comic book movies were a much tougher sell, and then had to witness studio executives meddling with the movie.
More as we hear it. We still think that not contacting the original creatives is on the poor side. Perhaps that’s why we don’t work in the movie business.
