This planned period drama The Bikeriders will chart a 1960s motorcycle club’s decade-long descent into crime. The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus has earned a legion of fans on that show, in part because of just how cool he looks roaring around on a motorcycle. Now it has been revealed that the actor will be engaged in more motorcycle-related shenanigans as he has joined the impressive cast of Jeff Nichols’ upcoming period flick, The Bikeriders.  The New Regency Picture has already signed Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook and Damon Herriman. And with Reedus on board, that makes for quite the cast list. Director Jeff Nichols is a hot property too, with the filmmaker walking away from the spin-off project for A Quiet Place last year to develop an unnamed sci-fi project for Paramount, not to mention this movie which we really like the sound of so far. The film is ‘an original story set in the 1960s following the rise of a fictional Midwestern motorcycle club. Seen through the lives of its members, the club evolves over the course of a decade from a gathering place for local outsiders into a more sinister gang, threatening the original group’s unique way of life.’ We’re certainly on board for this one, and with Reedus having also made a multi-season documentary about his love for riding motorcycles, it’s fair to say that he’ll be encouraging his cast mates to engage with bikes both onscreen and off. The same is likely true for Tom Hardy who is also a huge bike aficionado too. Everything is shaping up nicely for this one and we’ll let you know a release date when we hear it.
