Z’s Jonás Cuarón will be helming a new Spider-Man spin-off that’ll see a  Latino character headline a Marvel film for the first time. With a third Venom movie being plannedMorbius having hit cinemas this year, a Kraven the Hunter film on the way and a Madame Web film in development, Sony is pushing hard to leverage the potential of its own mini Spider-Man shared universe. There’s also an El Muerto movie on the way, that we now know is going to be directed by Jonás Cuarón, the filmmaker behind Z and Desertio. The character of El Muerto is ‘a super powered wrestler who originally fought Spider-Man in a charity wrestling match in which he nearly unmasked the webslinger before being stung by Spider-Man with a paralysing poison. After his oppressor El Dorado came to claim his life, he was saved by Spider-Man, after which the two team up to defeat Dorado.’ Cuarón will be collaborating with Blue Beetle scribe, Gareth Dunnet Alcocer who is on scripting duties. The film will star recording artist Bad Bunny, who recently made a splash in Bullet Train, the star’s first major studio film in which he more than held his own against the likes of Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. A release date for El Muerto has been scheduled as January 12, 2024. We’ll bring you more updates on this one as we hear them.
