The upcoming The Banshees Of Inisherin will reunite Martin McDonagh with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, stars of the much-loved In Bruges.

Searchlight Pictures has revelaed the full trailer for Martin McDonagh’s new film, The Banshees Of Inisherin. If you’re a fan of McDonagh’s 2008 black comedy In Bruges, then you’ll be pleased to hear that this project reunites McDonagh with the two stars of that movie, Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.

The plot for The Banshees Of Inisherin is as follows: ‘Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, the story follows lifelong friends – the chipper Padraic (Colin Farrell) and the curmudgeonly Colm (Brendan Gleeson), who find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly puts an abrupt end to their friendship. A stunned Padraic, aided by his sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon) and troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), endeavours to repair the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer.’

McDonagh has been in the headlines this week, chatting about reactions to his last film, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. That film certainly triggered some sections of its audience, but that doesn’t seem to have slowed the director down, as The Banshees Of Inisherin is described as a film where once again, ‘events swiftly escalate, with shocking consequences’.

McDonagh hasn’t released a film since Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in 2017 and despite some of the criticisms pointed in his direction following that movie, there’ll also be plenty of people looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us next. The film will land in Cinemas on October 21st.

In the meantime, you can catch that trailer below.
