Who You Gonna Call?, a documentary telling the life story of the Ghostbusters theme-writing Ray Parker Jr, is being released on 8th June.

The documentary is skipping cinemas and will be available to rent and buy digitally this Thursday, 8th June. Directed by documentary filmmaker Fran Strine, the movie will dig into Parker’s real life story and his legendary music career.

The film “Follows Parker’s struggles growing up on the streets of Detroit in the 1960s and overcoming nearly impossible odds to rise in the music industry, where he toured with Stevie Wonder and The Rolling Stones at the age of 18 and went on to achieve his dream of winning a Grammy and earning his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

The artist may be best known for penning and performing the memorable Ghostbusters theme Who You Gonna Call?, but he clearly had an interesting career outside of that, and that story is about to be told.

The movie is being released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and will feature interviews with Ray Parker Jr’s collaborators. Clive Davis, Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock, among others, will share their stories of Parker and what he was like to work with.

Director Fran Strine is no stranger to music documentaries, having helmed 2016’s Hired Gun. The film takes a look at the little-known touring musicians that are hired by household name acts to play with them on tour.

Who You Gonna Call? is available to rent and buy from 8th June.
