Inappropriate Behaviour stars Robert De Niro, and will centre on a stand up comic going on a road trip, here are the first details.

Robert De Niro has form when it comes to films about stand up comics. In fact you could say that the godfather of such films is Martin Scorsese’s The King Of Comedy, a role he would later pay tribute to in 2019, by appearing in Todd Phillips’ Joker. He also starred in the little seen 2016 Taylor Hackford film The Comedian, which reunited him with his Midnight Run co-star Charles Grodin.

That brings us to another comic-centered film in Inappropriate Behaviour. It’s a project that he’s taking on next, and we’ve got a couple of details.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

Inappropriate Behavior follows Max Bernal, a once-successful late-night comedy writer turned not-so-successful stand-up comic, who moves in with his father, having recently blown up his career and marriage. When he and his ex-wife Jenna, find themselves at odds with how to address the needs of their 11-year-old autistic son Ezra, Max decides to kidnap his child and take him on a cross-country odyssey … with comically disastrous results.

Bobby Cannavale stars as Max, alongside his real life partner Rose Byrne as Jenna. De Niro plays his father, with newcomer William Fitzgerald as Ezra. Vera Farmiga, Rainn Wilson, Tony Goldwyn and Whoopi Goldberg also feature.

Goldwyn is also directing and producing from a script by Tony Spiridakis.

Inappropriate Behaviour  will begin production soon. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
