Gareth Edwards has his first film post-Star Wars: Rogue One ready to go.
Now this is good news. For what it’s worth, my personal favourite of Disney’s raft of Star Wars movies is Rogue One, the film that was directed by Gareth Edwards, in spite of it being mauled a bit in post-production. Edwards also helmed the Godzilla reboot, and infamously made the superb Monsters for around £250,000, tackling the visual effects himself at home.
It’s been some time since he’s made a film, perhaps burned a little by his Star Wars experience. But now he’s returning to the world of sci-fi with a new science fiction film. He’s written the script for this one and will be directing as well, although as of yet the project doesn’t have a title. Kiri Hart will produce, and New Regency is providing the backing for the movie.
It’s early days, so that’s all the details we have. But it’s good news, and as we hear more, we will of course let you know.
