Scott Pilgrim Vs The World has been adapted into an anime series for Netflix entitled Scott Pilgrim Takes Off – and here’s the trailer…
Edgar Wright’s filmography is full of cult favourites, perhaps the most ambitious of which was 2010’s Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. Based on the graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the film saw the nerdy Scott attempt to woo Ramona Flowers, only to provoke the ire of her seven evil exes, whom he battles in a series of increasingly fantastical fight sequences. The choreography for these scenes was handled by the late Brad Allan, to whom Wright wrote a moving tribute for Empire. You can read Film Stories’ tribute to Allan here.
The film has now been adapted into an anime series for Netflix called Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
Michael Cera is returning as the titular Scott Pilgrim and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is back as Ramona Flowers, alongside Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, and Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells.
Chris Evans also makes a return as Lucas Lee alongside Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Mae Whitman as Roxy Richter and Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves.
O’Malley executive produced, wrote the scripts and acted as the showrunner, alongside David Grabinski, while Wright served as an executive producer.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will stream on Netflix from the 17th November.
