The stage musical adaptation of John Carneyās Sing Street is heading to London in 2025. Hereās what you can expect:
According to Deadline, the stage production of Sing Street is finally coming to the UK, having premiered in the US two years ago. It will play at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith from the 8th July to the 23rd August 2025, with the possibility of a West End transfer if itās successful. James Bond's Barbara Broccoli is producing.
Walsh said in a statement that Broccoli “is steering the whole thing, she steered the show from the beginning. She’s the one who originally approached me to do it after we had so much fun on Onceā.
Once is one of those ālightning in a bottleā films that put the right people together at exactly the right time to create arguably one of the best musicals of the 2000s ā writer and director John Carney and musicians and actors Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, who perform as The Swell Season. They also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for the beautiful ballad Falling Slowly. It wasnāt long before Once was turned into an extremely successful stage musical by playwright Enda Walsh.
Carney continued to make feelgood musical dramas ā Begin Again starring Keira Knightly and Mark Ruffalo is well worth watching ā but Sing Street may well be his masterpiece.

Carney reunited with Walsh for the stage adaptation of Sing Street. He wrote the music and lyrics with Gary Clark while Walsh wrote the book.
After delays due to the pandemic, it eventually premiered off Broadway in 2022.
Carney is currently in production on his next film, a musical comedy called Power Ballad starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. The plot follows a wedding singer whose songwriting skills help propel a washed up rockstar back into the limelight.
