Bigger budget sequel Terrifier 3 is confirmed to be in the works after the huge success of the second instalment, and here are the details.

Few things are better for the box office for a horror film than strong word of mouth. Right back to the 1950s, when producer William Castle took out a thousand dollar life insurance policy for any audience member who was frightened to death by his 1958 film Macabre, and hired ambulances to sit outside cinemas. The word of mouth this generated ensured sold out screenings.

So it was with last year’s micro budget feature Terrifier 2, with reports of viewers fainting and having to be carried out of screenings. People flocked to see if the film was as vile as its reputation suggested. It certainly requires a strong stomach, but anybody who can sit through the Hostel films will be in similar territory.

Unsurprisingly, this success means that a third instalment is now in the works, With the budget set to increase significantly to what is described as the “low-mid seven figure range”, writer and director Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone are back behind the camera, with David Thornton reprising his role as Art The Clown. Lauren LaVera is also expected to reprise her role as Sienna.

Plot details are being kept under wraps and production is set to begin later this year, with the aim to release mid 2024.
