Ben Affleck returns for The Accountant 2, and you can see the UK trailer for the movie right here. Involves numbers.
2016ās The Accountant was a good earner for Warner Bros and an entertaining watch for fans. The film saw Ben Affleck star as Christian Wolff, a maths genius on the autism spectrum whose skills included long-range weapons, hand-to-hand combat, and as the title suggested, highly accurate bookkeeping.
The film did respectable numbers at the box office and was one of the most digitally-rented films of the following year. Presumably around tax return time.
In the years since the thriller’s release, director Gavin O’Connor and Ben Affleck have collaborated again on The Way Back and after several years of threatening to do it, the duo pushed ahead with The Accountant 2, presumably once Hollywood and the wider world had righted itself after a few tumultuous years.
Ben Affleck continues to be a very busy filmmaker and actor: following The Accountant 2 heās signed on to do double duty on Animals, replacing the also busy Matt Damon who will be off frolicking with puppets in Christopher Nolanās next film. Heās also signed on to star ā and we still quite canāt believe weāre writing this ā as Hulk Hogan in Gus Van Santās Killing Gawker, based on the real-life events that would lead to the iconic wrestler grappling with the goossip website in the courtroom.
As for the sequel to The Accountant, weāve got a brief synopsis: āIn the sequel, an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to ‘find the accountant’. Christian is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal), to help.ā
Back when filming wrapped in August of last year, our own Ryan Lambie humbly suggested thatThe Accountant 2: Back On The Books or The Accountant: Ledger Of Death as potential titles. In the end though, the filmās producers have settled on The Accountant 2, which frankly makes far more sense because, well, it focuses purely on the number ā2ā and accountants love numbers. Why didnāt we think of that?
The film releases in April courtesy of Amazon MGM. Hereās the trailer below.
