Christopher Nolanā€™s Batman Begins is 20 this year ā€“ and so the entire The Dark Knight trilogy is getting a new Steelbook release.

In the latest round of our ongoing game ‘it can’t be that long’, this summer marks the 20th birthday of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. The movie that brought the live action Batman back to the screen after an eight year absence, and a film whose influence remains keenly felt.

Warner Bros isn’t let the birthday go without trying to make a few quid out of it, and who can blame them. As such, a new Steelbook boxset of The Dark Knight Trilogy is heading our way later this year.

It’s for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray editions of the films, and we’re assuming that the material on the discs themselves won’t be changing (although in fairness, the 4K releases are hardly on the shabby side). Instead, it’s the packaging that’s going to be poshed up, so much so that Warner Bros hasn’t revealed it yet.

In fact, it’s not revealed the release date either. Just that there’s a Steelbook of the trilogy, and it’s going to cost you – crikey ā€“ £100.

In return for that money, you get three Steelbook editions of the flms – Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises – and it looks like they’re going to arrive in a steel outercase as well. Thinking about it, The Dark Knight is 20 in three years, and The Dark Knight Rises celebrates its 20th in 2032. By which time Batman Begins will have gone past its 25th. Bottom line: if you miss this limited edition, there’s bound to be another one.

Still, popular Steelbooks have a habit of selling out fast, and so if you fancy this particular collection, then it’s available for preorder here. Even if you’re buying it a bit blind.

Blu-rays are included as well as 4K discs, incidentally.
