Another classic from the archives is coming to the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format, as Sony prepares to release The Guns Of Navarone.
When Sony has dug back into its back catalogue for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases, the results have been some terrific discs. Cases in point? The Bridge On The River Kwai and Lawrence Of Arabia have looking superb on the format.
It’s now digging into its archives again for a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of The Guns Of Navarone, the 1961 movie starring Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn and David Niven. Directed by J Lee Thompson, it’s a movie that follows a group of soldiers having to take out German guns during the war.
The Oscar-winning film has been added to the 4K release schedule by Sony and will be available in the UK on Monday 1st November (note that this is delayed from the original planned release of 18th October). No details as of yet of any extra features, but given that the pack will include a Blu-ray as well, it’s a fair bet that any supplements will come via that.
