All Quiet On The Western Front is the first German movie adaptation of the novel, and here’s the trailer. The original cinema adaptation of All Quiet On The Western Front was released in 1930, just one year after the novel of the same name. Lewis Milestone’s film is arguably one of the most influential war pictures ever made. The novel was written by German writer Erich Maria Remarque, and the new 2022 version will be the first home grown, German made adaptation. The plot follows a young German soldier on the Western Front of World War I. Paul and his comrades experience first-hand how the initial euphoria of war turns into desperation and fear as they fight for their lives, and each other, in the trenches. Felix Kammerer stars, alongside Daniel Brühl, Sebastian Hülk, Albrecht Schuch, and Anton von Lucke. Edward Berger directs from a screenplay by Lesley Paterson and Ian Stokell. All Quiet On The Western Front will be released on Netflix on the 28th October. It is also Germany’s official country selection in the Best International Feature Film category at the 2023 Oscars.
