The Last Voyage Of The Demeter pits the crew of a ship travelling between Carpathia and London against Dracula – here’s the new trailer.

What if you were stuck on a ship with a bloodthirsty vampire? Moreover, what if that vampire was Dracula himself? Those questions form the plot of a rather unique adaptation of the Dracula tale. The Last Voyage Of The Demeter focuses on a small part of the story – Dracula’s overseas trip from Romania to London, and the fate of the unfortunate crew and passengers stuck on board with him.

The horror adaptation is directed by Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark's André Øvredal from a screenplay by Bragi F. Schut and Zak Olkewicz. Starring in the movie are Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham and David Dastmalchian.

The Count himself will be played by Javier Botet – an actor often cast in monster roles and appearing in heavy prosthetics. The trailer reveals that he’ll be doing the same here, as The Last Voyage Of The Demeter depicts Dracula as not a human being, but a terrifying bat-like creature.

The idea of turning Dracula into a claustrophobic horror set in a location that can’t be escaped is rather genius, so we’ll eagerly be awaiting the release of this.

Here’s the trailer. The film will be in cinemas on 11th August.
