Nicole Holofcener’s seventh directorial feature will be You Hurt My Feelings, and here’s the trailer for the new film.

Nicole Holofcener has an impressive filmography. Recently co-writing Can You Ever Forgive Me and The Last Duel, she is best known for her films featuring ensemble female casts like Lovely & Amazing and Friends With Money. 2013 saw her write and direct the wonderful Enough Said, a romantic comedy which paired Julia Louis-Dreyfus with the late James Gandolfini in what sadly turned out to be his final role. If you haven’t seen it, Enough Said is well worth 93 minutes of your time.

Holofcener reunites with two actors from that film – Louis Dreyfus and Michaela Watkins – for her latest feature, You Hurt My Feelings.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

New York novelist Beth has been working for years on the follow-up to her somewhat successful memoir, sharing countless drafts with her supportive husband Don. Beth’s world unravels when she overhears Don admit to her brother-in-law, Mark, that actually, he doesn’t like the new book. She vents to her sister Sara that decades of a loving, committed marriage pale in comparison to this immense betrayal. Meanwhile, therapist Don faces his own professional problems as he finds himself unable to care about or even recall his unhappy patients’ issues anymore… and they’ve begun to notice.

Louis-Dreyfus stars opposite Tobias Menzies. Watkins, Owen Teague, Arian Moayed, Jeannie Berlin, Amber Tamblyn and David Cross also star. Holofcener writes and directs for A24 Studios.

You Hurt My Feelings is due to be released on the 23rd May. And you can watch the trailer below…
