Ahead of the series’ season 2 premiere, Netflix has renewed their supernatural mystery series Wednesday for season 3. More on that below.
Wednesday season 2 hasn’t even premiered yet, but that hasn’t stopped Netflix from looking ahead.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Wednesday season 3 is officially moving forward. The outlet sat down with series creator Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega, who portrays the titular character, to talk about the new season.
Ortega said Netflix has more trust in the show for the new run, leading to a “grander scale”. That trust seems evident if Netflix is moving ahead with another series before this one has even premiered. There’s no word on when season 3 might premiere, but it did take season 2 roughly three years to make its way to the streaming platform.
There’s more, too. Not only are we in for another series following Wednesday, Burton revealed to THR that a spin-off series is also being developed. The pair didn’t go into any details, but considering Wednesday’s success, I’m not surprised Netflix is hungry for more. (An Uncle Fester spin-off was said to be previously being mulled at Netflix in 2023.)
Wednesday season 2 will find Ortega’s Wednesday back at Nevermore Academy and investigating a new supernatural mystery. The season will be released in two part; first lot of episodes will appear on Netflix 6th August and the rest on 3rd September.
We’ll leave you with the new season’s trailer.
