A final trailer for this Augustās Alien: Romulus has landed, and it contains a lot more gore and swearing. You have been warnedā¦
A new Alien: Romulus trailer has landed! Weāre in a bit of a hurry, so weāll just plonk the embed here and come back with a few more thoughts later.
Hereās the trailer from before too. Weād argue it gives quite a lot away, though, so bear that in mind if youāve already decided to buy a cinema ticket. Also thereās quite a lot of swearing, so thatās something else to consider if you happen to be sitting in a busy office or something.
Take it away, director Fede Alvarezā¦
Our original story follows.
We’ve been following the development of Alien: Romulus with interest, but also with a bit of concern. The franchise, which started with Ridley Scott’s pretty perfect 1979 film Alien, has had many ups and downs and that’s without even counting the unfortunate Alien vs. Predator films. Could directed Fede Álvarez, best known for the Evil Dead reboot, pull this off?
Well, the first teaser trailer would suggest so.
Here’s the first Alien: Romulus trailer.
There’s not much we need to say about it, the trailer speaks for itself. We don’t see much, which is understandable, the film is still months away, but we see ā and crucially, hear ā enough to be convinced that we’re in good hands.
The trailer comes accompanied by a very short description: “The sci-fi/horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
Among those space colonizers are Cailee Spaeny and Isabela Merced, two very exciting rising stars. David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu also star in the film. Ridley Scott is on board as an executive producer and according to him, Romulus is “great”.
It’s already been established that the film will take place in between the original Alien and James Cameron’s more action-oriented Aliens. As the above plot summary describes, Romulus will be going back to the original in terms of tone. Merced has already teased a gruesome scene that she’s involved in.
Alien: Romulus is heading to cinemas on 16th August.
