Bill & Ted Face The Music will be getting a cinema and a premium video on demand release side by side, it’s been announced.

Here’s a big chance in release strategy for one of August’s last films standing. United Artists Releasing in the US has announced that it’s going to be offering two different ways to watch Bill & Ted Face The Music.

The eagerly-awaited sequel had been due in cinemas at the end of August, and that’s still going to be the case. There will be a theatrical release option for cinemas that are open and want to screen the film.

But also – and is this heading towards what the new normal will be? – it’s now been announced that the film will also be available on premium video on demand from September 1st. Basically, you take your pick. Whilst Warner Bros – that’s distributing the film in the UK – is still firm that Tenet will get a cinema-only debut, it’s also confirmed that it’s now open to a different path for pretty much all of its other releases.

Here’s the new trailer for the film, that’s also been released…

And finally, the synopsis…

It’s time to save the world, dudes! Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter return in the all-new trailer for Bill & Ted Face the Music, available On Demand and in theaters September 1!

More as we hear it.
