Stephen Graham is heading back to the kitchen, as Boiling Point returns for a television series on the BBC. Boiling Point was one of the British cinematic highlights of 2022 for this writer. From Stephen Graham’s towering performance as a chef under intense pressure to the fact that everything unfolded in one continuous, unbroken shot, the film was nominated for four BAFTAs and won four British Independent Film Awards. Now, news has broken that we will soon be returning to the world of Boiling Point for a five part television series. Boiling Point followed a particularly awful day in the life of head chef Andy, as he battles with various complications in his life, on top of the unbelievable stress of running an upmarket restaurant kitchen. Graham and Hannah Walters will co-produce and star. The majority of the cast will return from the film, including Vinette Robinson as Sous Chef Carly. The series will pick up six months from the end of the film, where Carly is now head chef of her own restaurant. Director and co-writer Philip Barantini will return to helm the first two episodes, with original writer James Cummings scripting the series. Boiling Point will begin filming early 2023, for broadcast in the autumn. You can watch the film on Netflix.
