Killer doll Chucky won’t be returning to small screens as his TV show gets cancelled after three seasons. More on the news below.

Chucky gave countless kids and adults plenty of nightmares in 1988 when Tom Holland’s (no, not that Tom Holland) Child’s Play hit cinemas. The film spawned off a relatively successful franchise, which got its own reboot in 2019.

Even though the reboot was financially successful, it failed to make a splash and in 2021, Chucky moved to the small screen with his own TV show, imaginatively titled Chucky. The series brought back Brad Dourif as the voice of the title doll and all three seasons received positive reviews from critics.

However, it turns out that wasn’t enough as Chucky has been cancelled, as reported by Variety

“I’m heartbroken over the news that ‘Chucky’ won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have,” series creator Don Mancini commented on the cancellation.

He added: “I’d like to thank UCP/SYFY/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. Your incredible #RenewChucky campaign really warmed Chucky’s cold heart. Chucky will return! He ALWAYS come back.”

Variety also reports that there were plans to perhaps bring the character back for “an abbreviated final season or even a wrap up film,” but these never came to fruition.

In the UK, Chucky aired on Sky Sci-fi and NOW.
