Millie Bobby Brown fights a fire-breathing dragon in the latest trailer for Netflix’s Damsel, out this March. Have a look here:
Millie Bobby Brown became a star thanks to her Akira-powered turn in Stranger Things, and she’s since become a go-to talent for Netflix, having since made a mini-franchise out of Elona Holmes.
Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), Damsel is the latest Netflix vehicle for Brown, and comes with a nifty, table-turning premise: she plays the titular Damsel, and is forced to contend with a fire-breathing dragon when she’s offered up as a sacrifice.
Or, as Brown herself puts it in a press release issued by Netflix, “She’s a damsel who doesn’t need to be saved. She saves herself in many ways. It subverts what you expect: You’re expecting the prince to turn around and save her, and… no. Don’t wait for the prince.”
Along with the new trailer (which you’ll find below these words) comes a precise release date: Damsel will stream on Netflix from the 8th March. In case you need it, there’s also the synopsis, which goes like this:
‘The damsel of the title who is enlisted to marry a prince and agrees to do it, but she later finds out that she’s actually been chosen as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. If that wasn’t bad enough, the damsel is thrown in a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and will have to fend for herself if she wants to make it out alive.’
If we’re being honest, the new trailer reveals a bit too much of the plot, so if you’ve already decided you’re definitely down for a bit of Brown-versus-dragon action, then maybe mark the date above on your calendar and go onto something else. It all looks pretty exciting, though – especially the stuff in the dragon’s murky cave – so if you’re undecided, maybe this will convince you:
