The release of Pixar’s Elio over the summer turned out to be a stumble in a season full of successful films. The movie, released in June, turned into a commercial misfire, with middling reviews leading to a worldwide box office gross of $151m. Given that it’s an original film too, it’s a shame it’s done basically a tenth of last summer’s Inside Out 2, the kind of numbers that turn studios away from standalone tales and back towards franchises.
Still, Elio now begins its journey towards a home release, with the digital on demand edition up first, and now available.
Then, to Disney’s credit, it’s also getting a full physical media release too. Elio will be available on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray as well.
The UK release date has been set for 22nd September.
